During the reign of the wicked king Maximian in the city of Cizicus, there lived a young maiden named Fausta, the daughter of wealthy Christians. Orphaned at the age of thirteen, she spent her time in fasting, prayer, and reading the Holy Scriptures. Strictly observing her virginity, she became known for her virtuous life.
King Maximian sent the priest Evilasius to force Fausta to offer a sacrifice to the idols. However, the saint refused, declaring that she had a heavenly Father and a Bridegroom - Jesus Christ. Evilasius, filled with rage, subjected her to cruel tortures, but Fausta remained steadfast, praying to God.
Despite all the torments, the saint felt no pain, and even when she was tortured, she continued to praise the Lord. Evilasius, seeing the miracles performed by God through Fausta, began to doubt his actions. Eventually, he himself converted to Christianity.
Upon learning of this, the king sent the eparch Maxim, who cruelly tortured Evilasius. Saint Fausta, praying for him, was also captured and subjected to torture. She felt no suffering and even prayed for her tormentor, calling him to repentance.
Maxim, seeing the miracles, also converted to the faith, and, throwing himself into the cauldron with Fausta and Evilasius, accepted a martyr's death. The saints, filled with joy, surrendered their souls to God on the sixth day of February.
By the prayers of the saints, O Lord, forgive us our transgressions and grant us eternal life.
