Saint Euschemon the Confessor, Bishop of Lampsacus
Holy Hierarch
Bishop
Bishop
Our holy father Eusebius, bishop of Lampsacus, led a virtuous life from his youth and became a friend of God. Having accepted monasticism, he attained the episcopal rank and was filled with the grace of God. Burning with divine zeal, he opposed the heresy of the iconoclasts and performed great miracles, including the resurrection of a deceased infant. He also instilled fear in wild beasts, driving them away with a single word. Emperor Theophilus, a patron of the iconoclasts, imprisoned him and sentenced him to exile, where he passed away in the 9th century.
On the same day, the repose of Saint Theognostus, Metropolitan of Kiev and all Russia.
