Martyr Eusignius of Antioch
Martyr
Saint Evsigney was from Antioch and served in the army for six decades, witnessing the sufferings of the holy martyr Basilisk. After the beheading of Basilisk, he saw a Cross in the sky and, armed with its power, bravely fought against the adversaries. Living until the time of Julian the Apostate, Saint Evsigney was captured for having settled a dispute between two pagans, after which one of them reported him to the emperor, calling him a Christian. In court, he reproached Julian for renouncing Christ and praised the faith of Constantine the Great. For this, Saint Evsigney was sentenced to death and martyrdom, offering himself as a sacrifice for Christ at the age of one hundred and ten.
