Martyrs
After the death of the Great Martyr George, Emperor Diocletian issued a decree to persecute the Christians, forcing them to worship idols. The holy martyrs Eusebius, Neon, Leontius, and Longinus, though imprisoned, continued to believe in Christ and boldly confess their faith.
At their trial, they dared to insult the pagan gods, for which they were subjected to cruel tortures. In the end, the holy martyrs were beheaded, receiving in exchange for their martyrdom a place in the Kingdom of Heaven.
On the same day, the Church also commemorates the Venerable Saint Savva of Pechersk, who lived probably in the early 13th century. His holy relics rest in the Caves of Saint Anthony.
