The martyr Eulalia lived in Spain, near the city of Varkiona, and was raised in the Christian faith. At the age of 14, she secretly left her home upon hearing about the persecutions of Christians and rebuked the judge Dacian for his sacrifices to the demons. For this, she was cruelly tortured, but she steadfastly endured the sufferings, affirming that the Lord was with her. During the tortures, she prayed, and the flame of the candles turned against her tormentors. Eulalia passed away in prayer, and from her mouth flew a white dove. Her body was buried by Christians. Her parents, upon finding her, wept but rejoiced that their daughter was counted among the holy martyrs.
When Saint Eulalia was taken down from the tree, one of the Christians, named Felix, said that she had already attained the crown of martyrdom. She, having passed away three days prior, turned her face to him and smiled. The martyr Felix soon accepted his end for Christ.
