Presbyter
Saint Eugenios was born on December 20, 1892, in the city of Moscow into the family of priest Vasily Vasiliev. Having received initial spiritual education, he entered the Moscow Theological Academy, but did not complete it due to the seizure of power by atheists. Eugenios Vasilievich was ordained a priest and appointed the rector of the Assumption Church in the village of Kosino. In 1936, the NKVD noticed an increase in pilgrims coming to the church and to the Holy Lake, where cases of healing occurred. On March 31, 1936, he was arrested and imprisoned in Butyrka prison. During the interrogation, he did not deny that believers came to him for healing. On July 2, 1936, he was sentenced to three years of imprisonment in a labor camp. Father Eugenios was sent to the Mariinsky camp, and then to Khabarovsk. He passed away on November 24, 1937, in the camp and was buried in an unmarked grave.
