Saint Martyr Eugene Dmitriev was the son of the priest Fyodor Andreyevich Dmitriev and the nephew of the priest Michael Dmitriev, who was also recognized as a saint. He served as a chanter at the Church of Saint John the Theologian in the village of Mitino, in the Ryazan region.
Later, he was called to the army and worked in a factory in the Perm region. In 1937, he sent his final letter to his father, asking him to make a memorial service and to pray for the salvation of his soul. Shortly afterward, all the workers, along with the saint, were arrested and executed.
The day of his martyrdom is August 31, 1937. By decision of the Holy Synod, Eugene was canonized on December 27, 2000.
