Great Schema Hieromonk
The Hieroschemamonk, who took upon himself the vow of silence in the 14th century at the Kiev-Pechersk Monastery, opened his mouth only for divine services and prayer. He did not partake of food prepared by fire, but was content with herbs. After many labors and struggles, he peacefully passed away and was buried in the Farther Theodosian cave of the Kiev-Pechersk Monastery.
