Hierodeacon
The brothers Vladimir and Alexey Korotkov were born in the Perm province to deeply religious parents. In January 1897, the Holy Nicholas Missionary Monastery was opened in the Perm province, with Archimandrite Varlaam as its abbot. The brothers came to the monastery, and their father remained there until his death, taking monastic vows. Vladimir was tonsured into monasticism with the name Euphemios and was appointed to serve at the Belogorsky Monastery's dependency. Alexey was drafted into the army and was awarded the George Cross for his bravery in battle. In February 1918, after returning home, he came to the monastery's dependency, but soon anarchy began, and the brothers were arrested by the Bolsheviks.
On February 21, armed Bolsheviks burst into the monastery's dependency, starting looting and arrests. Euphemios and Alexey were tortured and, despite their courage, were killed. Their bodies were left on the ice of the river for intimidation. At the funeral on February 25, the entire Orthodox community of Perm gathered, and memorial services were held. The brothers were recognized as martyrs, and their names were inscribed in the Book of Life. Soon after their death, their mother and sisters took monastic vows in their memory.
