Holy Martyr Evfimy Krugovykh
Hieromartyr
Evfimiy Georgievich Krugovykh served as a psalmist in the Holy Vvedensky Cathedral, and later was ordained as a 2nd priest at the Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in the city of Verny (now Almaty). He was a steadfast fighter against Renovationism. Father Evfimiy was hanged in 1924 near the monastery's dacha close to the settlement of Zarya Vostoka (now within the city limits of Almaty) along with 4 martyrs for remaining faithful to Patriarch St. Tikhon (Belavin). The burial place of the martyred remains unknown. The hieromartyr Evfimiy and the 4 martyrs were glorified in the ranks of saints by the Archierarchical Jubilee Council of the Russian Orthodox Church in 2000.
