Martyr Epicharis of Rome
Martyr
Saint martyr Epicharia lived in Rome during the reign of Diocletian. The eparch Caesarius ordered her to be brought to trial. For her firm confession of the name of Christ, she was hanged and scourged, after which 40 soldiers struck her with tin hammers; but, through her prayers, an Angel struck them down. After all the tortures, her head was cut off with a sword. From the stone on which the holy martyr stood, much water flowed.
