Saint Emilian of Rome
Venerable
In Rome, there lived a man named Victorin, who, repenting of his sins, became a monk and took the name Emilian. He led a strict life, exhausting his body with fasting and prayer, which inspired the brethren to repentance. Emilian would secretly go to a cave for prayer, where one day the abbot, following him, saw a heavenly light and heard a voice: "Emilian, your sins are forgiven." The abbot, shaken, told the brethren about the mercy of God shown to Emilian. The venerable one spent the rest of his life in joy and peacefully departed to the Lord.
