Venerable Elias the Hermit, of Egypt

Saint Elijah served the Lord from his childhood. He was raised in self-control and humility. He practiced strict asceticism in the desert and received the gift of miracles, which he manifested from an early age.

Avoiding every temptation, fasting, and praying unceasingly, he received spiritual nourishment and strength from God. He healed people who were coming to him, knew their most hidden thoughts, and was granted the gift of guiding them on the path to salvation.

He reposed at an advanced age, having attained the Kingdom of Heaven through his ascetic life.
