Martyr Elizabeth was born in 1881 in the city of Venev, Tula province. In 1912, she married a widower, Timofey Timokhin, who served as a gendarmerie non-commissioned officer. After the revolution, Timofey was arrested but was soon released. Elizabeth devoted herself to raising children and in 1922 was elected to the church council of the Transfiguration Church in the village of Bolshie Vyazemy. She dedicated much time and effort to the parish, facing persecution from the godless authorities.
In January 1938, the Zvenigorod department of the NKVD received an order to carry out arrests. Elizabeth was arrested on February 16, 1938, and interrogated. She was charged with counter-revolutionary activities, but she did not confess to any wrongdoing. On February 27, the NKVD troika sentenced her to execution. Elizabeth Alexandrovna Timokhina was shot on March 7, 1938, and buried in an unmarked grave at the Butovo shooting range near Moscow.
