Saint Elean, born in 1879 in the village of Maleevo in the Moscow province, was fourteen years old when her father passed away. She finished rural school and at the age of 24 entered the monastery, where she took monastic vows with the name Elean. After the monastery was closed during the Soviet era, she settled at the Trinity Church in the city of Skhodnya, engaging in singing and handicrafts.
On October 29, 1937, she was arrested for distributing church literature and counter-revolutionary activities. During the interrogation, she claimed that she was not involved in counter-revolutionary activities. Later, she was transferred to Taganka prison in Moscow, where on November 15, 1937, she was sentenced to ten years of imprisonment in a corrective labor camp.
Saint Elean passed away in custody on June 7, 1938, and was buried in an unmarked grave. Her memory is celebrated on May 25 (June 7) and on the day of the celebration of the Assembly of New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia.
