Saint Elena Chernova was born in 1874. On September 17, 1943, she was arrested by the authorities and endured horrific torture for her faith in Christ. She ended her life in martyrdom.

She was canonized on December 26, 2006, by decision of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church.
