Saint Martyr Catherine was born on December 4, 1892, in the village of Kashino, Volokolamsk district of Moscow province. She received her education at a parish school. In 1915, she entered the Holy Trinity Alexander Nevsky Monastery, where she labored until 1922. After the persecutions against the Church, she left the monastery and settled in the village of Mokrusha, where many sisters from the devastated monastery lived. Life in unity and spiritual support strengthened the sisters in faith.
In December 1937, she was arrested based on false witnesses, accused of active counter-revolutionary activities. On the night of January 20, 1938, she was arrested and imprisoned in the NKVD. The investigation continued uninterruptedly, but Catherine did not admit her guilt. On January 26, 1938, the NKVD troika sentenced her to execution. On February 5, 1938, she was executed and buried in an unmarked grave at the Butovo shooting range.
