Saint martyr Dula was a Christian from the city of Pretoriada. During the persecutions of Christians under Maximin, he was captured and brought before the governor of the Cilician region, Maximus. During the interrogations, the holy martyr boldly confessed Christ and denounced idolatry. The governor, unable to withstand his words, ruthlessly tortured him and sent him to prison. With each interrogation, the holy martyr appeared even stronger, ready for new torments. At the last interrogation, his lower jaw was torn off, and he was tied to the governor's chariot, dragged behind it until he passed away, marking himself with the sign of the cross.
The body of the holy martyr Dula was thrown into the river, but the current brought his remains back to his native city. The shepherds' dogs discovered the body, one of them guarding it from birds, while another brought clothing and covered the body. The Christians, upon learning of the martyr, performed the burial.
