Dimitri Rusinov, Presbyter

Saint Demetrius was born in 1871 in the village of Kurkino, Moscow district. His father, priest Vladimir, was awarded many church honors and was elevated to the rank of protopresbyter. In 1893, Demetrius graduated from the Moscow Theological Seminary and served in the Church of the Three Saints until 1924, and then in the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord. On October 28, 1937, his father was arrested on charges of counter-revolutionary agitation. On November 19, 1937, the NKVD troika sentenced Demetrius' father to execution. He was shot on November 21, 1937, and buried in an unknown common grave at the Butovo firing range near Moscow.
