Saint Dmitry was born on October 21, 1894, in the village of Novo-Rozhdestvenskoye, Moscow Province. He served as a psalmist in the Church of John the Baptist, where he was highly respected for his virtuous life. After the revolution, persecutions began, and he was offered to leave the church, but he refused. In 1936, the authorities decided to demolish the church, but the parishioners petitioned for its closure, which was rejected. On May 11, 1937, the church was closed, and on September 4, 1937, Dmitry was arrested and imprisoned in Taganka prison. The church was closed, and the church attributes were destroyed. On October 17, 1937, he was sentenced to ten years of imprisonment. Dmitry Ivanovich Ilyinsky passed away on February 17, 1938, in captivity and was buried in an unmarked grave.
