Saint Dmitry was born in 1868 in the village of Chernyaevo, Moscow province, into a priest's family. In 1883, he graduated from the Zvenigorod Theological School. From 1889, he served as a psalmist, and in 1912, he was ordained as a deacon. For his service to the Church, he was awarded a certificate from Patriarch Tikhon and received a cross. In 1928, he was ordained as a priest. In 1937, he was awarded a pectoral cross.
The authorities imposed heavy taxes on him, which led to non-payment and the seizure of property. In 1937, persecutions against the Church began, and his brother was shot. In March 1938, the priest was arrested on false charges of counter-revolutionary activity. During interrogations, he rejected all accusations, confirming only his loyalty to God and the Church.
On August 9, 1938, he was sentenced to exile in Kazakhstan, but on September 13, 1938, he passed away in Moscow and was buried in an unmarked grave.
