Dasius of Durostorum
Martyr
During the reign of Diocletian and Maximian, there was a custom in the pagan city of Dorostol to sacrifice a handsome young man to the pagan god Cronus. Saint Dasius, being a secret Christian, decided to declare his faith upon hearing of his fate. He rejected earthly goods and began to denounce idolatry, preaching the teachings of Christ. For this, he was brought before the governor Vassus, where he again confessed his faith. Saint Dasius was subjected to cruel tortures and was beheaded for his devotion to Christ.
