Venerable Daniel, abbot of Pereslavl-Zalessky
Venerable
Archimandrite
Archimandrite
He was born around 1460 in the city of Pereslavl-Zalessky to the pious Konstantin and Theodosia (in monasticism, Fecla). From childhood, he had a love for a pious life and Christian feats. He took monastic vows in the monastery of St. Pafnuty of Borovsk; in spiritual life, he grew under the guidance of St. Levky of Volokolamsk (commemoration on August 17). In his homeland, he dedicated himself to the feat of love for his neighbors: he buried the homeless, the poor, and the fatherless. The Venerable One founded a monastery on the site of a cemetery.
He reposed on April 7 (April 20 in the new style) 1540 (his memory is also celebrated on December 30 and July 28).
