Martyr Boris was born on July 23, 1886, in the village of Slepcovo, Kaluga province. In search of work, he went to Saint Petersburg, where he worked at the Putilov factory and later in a monastery. In 1926, he was elected church warden at the Pokrov Church. For his zealous activity, he became a victim of the godless, was sentenced to forced labor and fined. After serving his sentence, he attended church and sang in the choir at the Annunciation Church, as well as gathered monks from Optina Pustyn around him. On October 28, 1937, Boris was arrested and imprisoned in a prison in Sukhinichi. During the interrogation, he denied conducting counter-revolutionary propaganda. On November 21, 1937, the NKVD troika sentenced him to execution. Boris Kozlov was shot on December 5, 1937, and buried in a common grave without a name.
