Martyr Azades the Eunuch and 1,000 Martyrs of Persia
Martyr
The saving day of Holy and Great Friday has come, when Christians glorified Christ for His redemptive sufferings. On this day, Bishop Simeon was captured and sentenced to death, and many Christians were executed alongside him. From this day on, for ten days, all Christians began to be captured and put to death. A thousand holy martyrs were seized, among whom was the eunuch Azat, who held a high position at the royal court and was beloved by King Sapores. During the interrogation, all of them boldly confessed their faith in Christ and were immediately executed. Sapores was greatly saddened by the death of Saint Azat and issued an edict prohibiting the execution of Christians, which had force for some time.
