Abraham of Arbela
Hieromartyr
Bishop
Saint Abraham was captured by the order of the chief of the magi in the fifth year of the persecution of Christians in Persia. The chief of the magi compelled him to renounce Christ and worship the sun, to which the saint replied that abandoning the Creator for the creature is madness. For these words, the torturer became enraged and ordered that the saint be beaten with rods. Abraham courageously endured the suffering and prayed for his tormentors, asking the Lord not to impute sin to them. Eventually, the chief of the magi ordered his head to be cut off, and the saint accepted his martyr's end in the village of Felman.
