Archbishop
The personality of Saint Arsenius had great significance in the history of the Serbian Church and the Universal Church. He was able to preserve and pass on the traditions of Saint Sava of Serbia as his closest disciple and successor. Thanks to him, Kosovo became a spiritual center for the Serbs, where Serbian bishops built their endowments.
Saint Sava blessed his disciple to find a safer place for the Serbian archbishopric, and Saint Arsenius chose the city of Peć in Kosovo. In Peć, he built the church of the Holy Apostles, sanctifying this place with his gracious personality. This monastery became the spiritual center of the entire Serbian people, and here the Serbian archbishopric transformed into a patriarchate, uniting all Orthodox Slavs of the Balkans during the Turkish yoke.
