Archbishop
He was born in January 1550 in the village of Kaloriana near the city of Trikala (Thessaly, Greece) in the family of a priest, Theodore. His mother, Chrysanthia, was the sister of the Metropolitan of Larissa, Neophytus. In 1572, he was tonsured into monasticism and ordained as a hierodeacon. In 1584, he was elected Archbishop of Dimonika and Elassona, living in Elassona until March 1585.
In May 1585, Patriarch Theolept II summoned him to Constantinople, where he became a participant in the embassy to Tsar Feodor Ivanovich. In 1586, he participated in the establishment of the Moscow Patriarchate, supporting the idea of patriarchy in Russia. On January 23, 1589, he was present at the election of Patriarch Job.
In 1597, he was appointed titular Archbishop of Arkhangelsk and became the keeper of the royal tombs in the Archangel Cathedral of the Moscow Kremlin. During the Time of Troubles, he actively participated in church affairs, supported False Dmitry I, and took part in his coronation.
He died on April 29, 1625, in Suzdal and was buried in the Suzdal Cathedral of the Nativity. Local veneration was established soon after his death, and canonization took place in 1982. The name of the saint is mentioned in the lists of 'Description of Russian Saints' and in the Kaidalov Saints of the late 17th century.
