Saint Archippus (Shestakov), in the world Athanasius, was born in 1825 in a merchant family in the settlement of Ezdotskaya, Staroskolsky district of Kursk province. From an early age, he showed disdain for earthly goods, helping the poor and living in asceticism. In 1852, he came to the Glinskaya Desert, where he worked in the bakery, demonstrating humility and patience. In 1869, he was tonsured into the mantle with the name Archippus, and in 1885, he accepted the schema. In the 1890s, he became the head of the Far Skete of the Glinskaya Desert, where his spiritual gifts were revealed. He encouraged the brethren, warned against the snares of the wicked one, and was known for his love and care for others. He died on September 27, 1896.
