Saint Aristobulus was one of the seventy Apostles, originally from Cyprus. He was the brother of Saint Apostle Barnabas. After the Ascension of the Lord, he preached together with Apostle Paul, who is mentioned in the Epistle to the Romans. Apostle Paul greeted the faithful from the house of Aristobulus, which testifies to Aristobulus's familial ties with the believers in Rome.
Saint Paul appointed Aristobulus as bishop and sent him to preach in Britain, where he labored among the unbelieving and cruel people. Aristobulus suffered greatly, enduring torture and humiliation, but despite this, he enlightened them with the grace of Christ, teaching them faith in Christ. He baptized them, built a church, and ordained presbyters and deacons, completing his life in this ministry.
