New Martyr Apollonius Babichev

Martyr Apollon (Apollon Ksenofontovich Babichev) was born on March 30, 1874, in the city of Kaluga. He graduated from the city school and served as a psalmist in the Georgievsky church. On October 16, 1937, the authorities arrested him. During the investigation, he insisted on his innocence, denying the accusations of counter-revolutionary activity. On November 19, 1937, the NKVD Troika sentenced him to execution. Apollon Babichev was shot on November 23, 1937, and buried in a common unmarked grave.
