Anthony Chernoyezersky
Venerable
Saint Anthony of Cherepovets founded the Mother of God Monastery on the Black Lake in the Novgorod lands, not far from the city of Cherepovets. The monastery was located on an island near the Shchiry Pogost. Twice the monastery suffered complete devastation: in 1581 – by the Lithuanians and in 1682 – by the Swedes. In 1764, the monastery was abolished.
