Martyr Anthony of Alexandria
Martyr
Saint Antoninus was born in Alexandria. He had deep faith in God and lived according to the principle of Christianity.
He was arrested and brought before the governor of the city, before whom he courageously confessed his faith. He proclaimed the message of the Gospel and called people to repentance. For this stance, he was hung on a tree and subjected to terrible tortures. In the end, he was condemned to death and thrown into the fire. Even amid the flames, he did not cease to teach love for God and faith in His heavenly Kingdom.
After his death, his body was found incorrupt.
The Church commemorates the saint on August 9.
