Saint Antonina the Martyr of Nicaea
Martyr
The holy martyr Antonina suffered in the city of Nicaea during the reign of Diocletian and Maximian. She confessed her faith in Christ, for which she was subjected to cruel tortures and imprisoned. Maximian again compelled her to renounce Christ, but she remained steadfast. She was hanged and scourged on her ribs, yet she continued to rebuke the emperor and preach about Christ. Angels appeared and protected the saint, inflicting suffering on her tormentors. After this, she was placed on a heated iron bed, but she remained unharmed. Ultimately, the saint was thrown into the Nicaean lake.
