Anisia Maslanova

Anisiya Ivanovna Maslanova was born in the village of Barmino of the Makaryev district of Nizhny Novgorod province. She was the starosta (warden) of the Preobrazhenskaya Church in Nizhny Novgorod. In the autumn of 1937, she was arrested and accused of participating in a counter-revolutionary church insurgent organization. She did not admit her guilt and did not give testimonies against others, and was sentenced to death by shooting. She was executed on December 3, 1937. Later, she was rehabilitated. She was glorified by the Archdiocesan Council of the Russian Orthodox Church in the year 2000.
