Hierodeacon
Hierodeacon Andronik (Barsukov) was born in 1872 in the Olonets province. On November 27, 1895, he entered the Valaam Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery, where he was enrolled as a novice on August 8, 1900. His tonsure into monasticism took place on June 9, 1907. Andronik undertook various obediences, serving as a canonarch from November 27, 1907, to 1916. In 1916, he was transferred to the Nosovsky Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery in the Tambov province. In 1917, he was ordained as hierodeacon. While serving as an economist, he was killed by hooligans in 1917. One of the monks recorded about him: "...On Valaam, you bore the cross of sorrowful reproach and lived in distant sketes, and today you completed your monastic struggle with a martyr's death..." The venerable Andronik was canonized by the Holy Synod on December 27, 2000.
