Blessed Andrew the Fool-For-Christ at Constantinople
Blessed
Blessed Andrew, a fool for Christ's sake, lived in Constantinople in the 10th century. From a young age, he loved the house of God and the Holy Scriptures. In a dream, he saw two armies: one with men in bright garments, the other with dark demons. An angel of God, holding crowns in his hand, said that they were the heavenly treasure for the victors. Hearing the call, Andrew began to walk the streets in rags, enduring mockery and insults, begging for alms and giving them to the poor. For his patience and humility, he received the gift of prophecy and saved many from spiritual perdition.
During prayer in the Vlacherna Church, he was granted to see the Most Holy Theotokos, covering those who prayed. He passed away in the year 936.
