Presbyter
Saint Andrew Kovalev was born on August 12, 1871, in the village of Korenovskaya. He served in various churches, including the Peter and Paul and the Ascension churches, and also taught in church-parish schools. He had a saving influence on non-believers, bringing a family of five into Orthodoxy. After 1917, the number of active churches decreased, and the priest was transferred to Krasnodar. He was married and had two children.
On September 21, 1921, the priest was arrested on charges of arson of a candle factory and agitation against the Soviet government. Despite the lack of evidence of guilt, he was sentenced to death by shooting as an element hostile to the Soviet power. The sentence was carried out on September 28, 1921, at one o'clock in the morning.
