Saints Anatoly of the Near Caves and the other Anatoly the Recluse of the Far Caves
Venerable
The venerable hermits of the Caves of Pechersk labored in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. One of them passed away in the 12th century and was buried in the Near Caves, while another, who lived in the 13th century, was buried in the Theodosian (Far) Caves.
The memory of the first Venerable one is celebrated on October 31, together with the memory of the Venerable Nicodemus and Spiridon, the prosphora-bakers of the Caves. In the service, it is said: “Spiridon, the lily of meekness, and Nicodemus, the victorious, both holy prosphora-bakers... To these is also added Anatoly, whom all venerate.”
