Deacon
Saint Anastasius, the deacon of the Caves, labored in the Near Caves in the 12th century. The hieromonk Athanasius of Kalnoff calls him the brother of Saint Titus the presbyter. In the manuscript saints' lives, he is referred to as a deacon. In the service for the Synaxis of the Fathers of the Near Caves, it is said that he had such boldness before God that he received everything he asked for. His memory is celebrated on February 27/March 12, as well as on September 28 and on the 2nd Sunday of Great Lent.
