Presbyter
Saint Alexius was born on May 16, 1890, in the village of Danilovo, Podolsk district of Moscow province. He graduated from the Don Spiritual School in 1904 and the Moscow Spiritual Seminary in 1911. After graduating from the seminary, he was appointed a teacher in a school in the village of Levkovo. In 1912, he married Elena Alexandrovna Voskresenskaya. In 1913, he was ordained a priest and subsequently elevated to the rank of protopresbyter.
With the onset of persecution against the Russian Orthodox Church in 1930, his house and property were confiscated. He moved to the village of Samarovka, where he served in the Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God. In 1930, he became the rector of the Church of the Meeting of the Lord in Nova Derevnya. His wife Elena became the regent and psalmist.
In 1937, he was arrested by the NKVD and sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment. He died on December 23, 1937, in prison. His wife worked in the Sretensky Church until her death in 1965.
