Martyr Alexey was born in 1889 in the village of Serednikovo, Volokolamsk district of Moscow province. Having received primary education, he served as a teacher in church-parish schools. In 1915, he was mobilized into the army, and in 1918 – into the Red Army. After returning from the army, he began serving as a psalmist in the John the Baptist Church, and later as the head of the primary school.
On January 22, 1938, Alexey Semyonovich was arrested and imprisoned in Taganka prison. He was accused of spreading counter-revolutionary conversations. During the interrogation, he did not admit his guilt and refused to incriminate others. On March 8, 1938, the NKVD troika sentenced him to execution. Alexey Semyonovich was shot on April 5, 1938, and buried in an anonymous mass grave at the Butovo firing range near Moscow.
