Presbyter
Saint Alexius, the Holy Martyr, was born on March 17, 1870, in the village of Kozlovo, Tver Province, in the family of priest Vasily Siberian. After graduating from the Tver Theological Seminary, he was ordained as a priest to the church of his native village, where he served until his last arrest and martyr's death. In 1929, he was arrested for failing to meet the grain procurement plan and sentenced to one year of imprisonment in a corrective labor camp and two years of exile. Upon returning from exile, he was appointed as a priest in the village of Kozlovo and designated as a dean. On August 29, 1937, the NKVD arrested him, and he was imprisoned in Tver prison. Despite torture, the priest courageously refused to accept the accusations. On November 11, 1937, the NKVD Troika sentenced him to death by shooting, which was carried out on November 13, 1937. Along with him, the false witnesses were also executed.
