Martyr Alexius (Alexey Nikolaevich Serebrennikov) was born on October 1, 1882, in the village of Vasilyevskoe, Likhvinsky district of Kaluga province. He graduated from the district school. From 1914 to 1916, he served as a clerk in the police department in the city of Zvenigorod. From January 1, 1926, he was a psalmist at the Christ the Savior Cathedral in Vereya. In January 1930, the cathedral was closed, and he began to serve in the Church of the Epiphany.
On September 9, 1937, during the persecution of the Russian Orthodox Church, he was arrested and imprisoned in a prison in Mozhaisk. False witnesses accused him of anti-Soviet propaganda. Alexey Nikolaevich did not confess to his guilt and did not know about Tukhachevsky.
On October 9, 1937, the NKVD troika sentenced him to execution. The martyr was shot on October 13, 1937, and buried in an unknown common grave at the Butovo firing range near Moscow.
