Saint Martyr Alexius Saburov served as a priest in the active army from 1914 to 1915. From December 1918, he served in the Church of the Resurrection of Christ and in the prison church of the city of Perm. In 1918, many priests of the city of Perm and the Perm region were tortured to death by the Bolsheviks. Priest Alexius also did not escape a martyr's end. On the night of December 16 to 17, according to the information from his granddaughter, Father Alexius was taken from his bed, dressed only in his underwear, with a noose around his neck, barefoot through the snow, and taken to the Kama River where he was tied to an iron bed and drowned.
