Saint Alexius was born in 1869 in the village of Nagorny, Moscow province. In 1889, he graduated from the Theological Seminary and was ordained as a priest at the church in the village of Volochanovo. Over twenty-seven years of service, he was awarded for his impeccable ministry. In 1930, the Soviet authorities confiscated his property and sentenced him to two years in a labor camp. While in prison, he submitted a petition for a review of his case, which was granted, and he was released.
In 1937, at the church of Cosmas and Damian, Priest Alexius celebrated the forty-seventh anniversary of his ministry. On October 24, 1937, he was arrested and imprisoned in Rzhev prison. During interrogations, he stated that he had not engaged in anti-Soviet activities. On November 25, the NKVD Troika sentenced him to execution. Priest Alexius Nikologorsky was shot on November 27, 1937.
