Saint Alexius Moskvine was born on March 17, 1891, in the city of Bezhetsk, Tver Province. He graduated from the Tver Theological Seminary in 1912 and was assigned to the church of the village of Savtsino, where he served for almost 18 years.
On February 6, 1930, he was arrested on false charges of participating in a 'kulak anti-Soviet group' and sentenced to exile in the Northern region. In 1933, he returned to the Kalinin region and was assigned to the church of the village of Borisovo.
On October 8, 1937, he was arrested again, imprisoned in the Kashin prison, and accused of counter-revolutionary activities. Father Alexius did not admit his guilt and was shot on November 3, 1937. He was rehabilitated on September 10, 1989. He was glorified by the Archierarchical Council of the Russian Orthodox Church in the year 2000.
