Presbyter
Priest Alexei Andreevich Molchanov was born in 1878 in Nizhny Novgorod province. He served as a priest in the church of the village of Valki, Lyskovsky district, Gorky region.
In July 1937, after the arrest of Metropolitan Theophan (Tulyakov) of Gorky and Arzamas, mass arrests of clergy and believers began in the Gorky region. On July 26, 1937, Priest Alexei Molchanov was arrested on charges of participating in a counter-revolutionary organization and anti-Soviet agitation. He did not admit guilt and did not confirm the testimonies of false witnesses.
In the same case, deacon John Moshkov (village of Isady), deacon Benjamin Vladimirovsky (village of Prose k), and believer Elizabeth Sidorova (village of Ivanovskoye) were arrested. Despite the lack of evidence and the use of torture, they all steadfastly rejected the false accusations. They were sentenced to execution and shot.
Priest Alexei Molchanov was executed on November 20, 1937.
