Saint Alexius Ilyinsky, who was born in 1870 in the village of Titovo, Tver Province, was a priest named Alexius, serving in the church of the village of Spas, Staritsky district. On March 11, 1931, he was arrested and accused of anti-Soviet agitation. On April 3 of the same year, the troika of the OGPU sentenced him to five years in a labor camp, which was replaced by exile to Kazakhstan. On June 18, 1931, he arrived at the Karlag of the NKVD but did not reach Akmolinsk. On August 4, 1931, Father Alexius passed away in Karlag.
