Virgin-Martyrs Alexandra and Claudia of Amisa
Martyrs
The holy martyrs suffered during the reign of the impious Maximian, who raised fierce persecutions against Christians. In the city of Amisa, where these holy virgins lived, they were captured and brought before the governor. During the interrogation, they declared themselves Christians and condemned the cruelty of the governor. By his order, they were first stripped and beaten with rods, then their breasts were cut off, after which, hanging them up, they were scraped on their bodies until their internal organs were exposed. Finally, they were thrown into a heated furnace, where they surrendered their souls into the hands of the Lord. The holy martyr died in the year 310.
